The Arrangement: Part Six

In the summer of 1962, a ten-year-old boy fishing alone in a remote north Georgia creek witnessed something that would change his life forever. Two enormous, hair-covered figures emerged from the woods and crossed the shallow water. One was an adult female. The other was a juvenile, roughly his own size, that stopped in the middle of the creek and stared directly at him.

Terrified, Jimmy ran home, leaving behind his fishing pole, bait can, and even one of his shoes. When he reached the farmhouse, his grandfather was waiting on the porch with four words that would stay with him for the rest of his life: "So you've seen one."

In Part Six of The Arrangement, the extraordinary Sasquatch story takes a dramatic turn. For the first time, Jimmy shares his own firsthand encounters with the mysterious creatures his family had quietly coexisted with for more than fifty years. Between the ages of ten and twelve, Jimmy begins learning the secrets passed down through four g enerations. His grandfather Thomas teaches him the strict rules governing their unusual arrangement, the meaning behind mysterious wood knocks and whistles, and why certain areas of their eighty-acre property are absolutely forbidden.

But as Jimmy becomes more comfortable with the activity surrounding the farmhouse, something unexpected happens. A young Sasquatch begins showing a particular interest in him. Strange encounters at his favorite fishing hole gradually escalate, from rocks thrown into the creek and mysteriously relocated belongings to enormous footprints appearing around the places he frequents. Then, a frightening accident leaves Jimmy injured and unconscious beside the creek.

When he awakens, an enormous gray-faced male Sasquatch is standing just twenty yards away, silently watching him. Was the creature simply curious, or was something more happening between Jimmy's family and the mysterious inhabitants of the mountain? As autumn arrives, the fragile understanding that has protected both families for decades begins to unravel.

Strange activity moves closer to the farmhouse. Familiar signals change. And one terrifying November night, Jimmy's grandfather orders everyone away from the windows, takes control of the family rifle, and delivers an ominous warning: "Something's gone wrong up there.  "What had changed on the mountain?

And could a relationship built on generations of trust survive whatever was coming?
