The episode begins with the chilling conclusion to a family reunion that took a horrifying turn along the Nushagak River. Douglas, his wife, and his brother Thomas are forced to return to a remote cabin less than 72 hours after leaving when they realize Douglas's wife, who is battling cancer, has accidentally left behind her irreplaceable medications. An older relative agrees to accompany them, but he comes armed and issues a disturbing warning: the area has a long history of aggressive Hairy Man encounters.
When they arrive, they immediately realize something isn't right. Their belongings have been moved outside, and a freshly killed, soaking-wet beaver has been left on the cabin floor. As they search for the missing medication bag near the dark treeline, an ear-piercing scream erupts from the woods, sending their armed escort into action. What happens next turns their desperate trip into a fight to escape. Something hidden in the darkness hurls a dead beaver with such force that it strikes Douglas, while gunshots ring out and a large, unseen presence retreats into the forest.

What begins as a routine job quickly becomes a nightmare. Soon, something begins pounding on the walls, and Sophie reports seeing a massive figure outside her home. As the activity intensifies, the men arm themselves and attempt to escape on four-wheelers.
